Verdure Lotus Cruise review: the ship, the fake website and better-documented options

Verdure Lotus is a 16-cabin Lan Ha cruise sold through agencies, and the website that carries its name is not genuine. The ship itself looks reasonable on paper; the problem is that every detail comes from resellers, so confirm it before you pay.

Verdure Lotus Cruise is sold under "Halong Bay" but runs a Lan Ha programme from Tuan Chau: lunch while sailing out of Ha Long, an afternoon in the Tra Bau area and the Dark and Bright Cave on the second morning. Agencies describe a 2019 ship with 16 large cabins. The catch is that there is no official source behind any of it, and the first website you find for the name is a template site full of casino spam. You can book it, but only through an agency you trust and with the ship confirmed in writing.

Pros

  • Large cabins for the price: 35 m² Deluxe and Executive with balcony
  • Suite of 55 m² with bathtub and balcony; 70 m² connecting cabin for families
  • A real Lan Ha itinerary, not a Ha Long loop
  • Agency price from US$127 per person

Cons

  • No official website; verdurelotuscruise.com is a spam template, do not use it
  • Operator not identified
  • Pier details inconsistent (Tuan Chau, with Gia Luan also named for the return)
  • Agency reviews mention a high card-payment fee

The ship and cabins

According to the agency BestPrice Travel, the Verdure Lotus Classic Cruise entered service in 2019, has 3 decks and 16 cabins for up to 46 passengers, and a 48-seat restaurant. No pool is mentioned.

Cabin Size Notes
Deluxe 35 m² First deck, balcony
Executive 35 m² Second deck, balcony
Suite 55 m² King bed, bathtub, balcony
Connecting 70 m² Up to 4 people

Those are generous sizes; many Lan Ha ships sell 25–28 m² standard cabins. The agency itself labels the ship "Classic", not luxury, so ignore any "5-star" tag on resellers' pages: Vietnam's star rating for cruise ships is voluntary, and very few hold one.

The same agency's older page address for "O'Gallery Lotus Cruise" now shows the Verdure Lotus page, which suggests an earlier or sister name. That connection is not confirmed.

The website warning

The first search result for the name, verdurelotuscruise.com, is not an operator site. It is a template with placeholder text, invented testimonials, inserted casino-spam paragraphs and a Gmail contact address. The same contact details appear on two other fake "cruise" sites. Do not book, pay or send passport details through it. Book through a platform or a known agency instead, and read the booking guide for how to identify the real ship behind a listing.

The route: Lan Ha from Tuan Chau

The agency itinerary is a standard Tuan Chau-to-Lan Ha programme:

Verdure Lotus 2D1N as described by the agency
  1. Tender from Tuan Chau to the shipCheck the lounge on your voucher

  2. Lunch while cruising from Ha Long into Lan Ha, then a water stop in the Tra Bau area or a Lan Ha lagoonPossibly Ba Trai Dao

  3. Cooking class, dinner, squid fishing

  4. Dark and Bright Cave by bamboo boat or kayak

  5. Tender back to the pier

  6. Back in Hanoi14:30–15:00

The Dark and Bright Cave (hang Sáng – hang Tối) and Tra Bau are both on the Lan Ha side, so this is a genuine Lan Ha cruise in the sense explained on Lan Ha vs Ha Long. The same agency page also names Gia Luan, on Cat Ba, as a disembarkation point, which conflicts with Tuan Chau. Ask which pier your ship uses on your date.

Kayaking in the Cat Ba bays has been under an official suspension since November 2024, and kayaking at the Dark and Bright Cave is reported as no longer permitted; expect the bamboo boat. Since June 2026 every passenger must also wear a certified life jacket from boarding to the end of the trip.

Prices and what is included

Agency prices seen: US$127 per person (shown against a struck "from" price of US$168) and US$134 on another listing. Included: sightseeing fees, kayak or rowing boat, four meals and two bottles of water per cabin. Excluded: the Hanoi transfer, drinks, tips and spa.

Children (agency terms): under 5 free when sharing (one child only; a second pays 75%), ages 5–10 pay 75% sharing or 85% with an extra bed, 11 and over pay the adult fare. Cancellation (agency): free more than 21 days out, 30% at 11–20 days, 50% at 7–10 days and 100% inside 7 days.

Compare that with a platform listing that offers free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure. For a Tuan Chau balcony ship at a similar level, the alternatives below are sold that way.

What travelers should check

Agency reviews mention a high card-payment fee; beyond that, too few independent reviews exist to summarize. Before paying, ask for the ship's name on the voucher, the pier and lounge number, the card fee, and whether the price includes the sightseeing fee and the transfer.

Better-documented alternatives

  • Orchid Trendy: 20 cabins with balcony and bathtub (28–45 m²), boarding at Lot 32, Tuan Chau. The 2D1N stops at Ao Ech (Frog Lagoon), anchors at Tra Bau and visits Trung Trang cave on Cat Ba on Day 2. The operator publishes its terms and includes VAT.
  • Sapphire: steel hull, launched December 2018, 21 balcony cabins (most with a jacuzzi bathtub), boarding at Tuan Chau No. 26. Its operator has no official site either, but the ship has a long public review record: its 3-day trip on GetYourGuide is rated 4.8 by over 1,500 guests.
  • For more space and a pool: Azura, launched in December 2025, 30 cabins of 34 m² or more, sold on Klook.
