The ship and cabins
The brand covers two products. The official site does not say whether "La Pandora" and "La Pandora Boutique" are separate ships or two names for one. Agency listings point to two hulls: La Pandora, a mid-range ship sailing since 2019 with about 24 balcony suites, and La Pandora Boutique, described as 12 en-suite cabins on four decks, refitted in July 2019. Published dimensions for the Boutique contradict each other, so we do not repeat them.
The operator markets "private balcony suites" and fusion cuisine. It does not publish cabin sizes or say whether cabins have bathtubs. If either matters to you, ask before paying, and ask the questions worth putting to any Lan Ha ship: steel hull, year built, and the ship name that will appear on your voucher.
The La Pandora office also sells Capella cruises on the same site, and its terms and WhatsApp number match those of Hera Cruises word for word. That proves a shared sales setup, not shared ownership. For you it means one thing: if your voucher names a different ship, ask why before you travel.
The route: Lan Ha Bay or Ha Long?
La Pandora checks in at Slot 26, Tuan Chau International Marina in Ha Long. Like most Lan Ha cruises, it then sails through Ha Long waters to reach Lan Ha, where the sightseeing happens. The elements named on the official site are:
- a bamboo boat around the Dark and Bright caves (hang Sáng – hang Tối, "hang" means cave)
- cycling in Viet Hai, a car-free village inside Cat Ba National Park
- kayaking off Van Boi
- squid fishing in the evening
One agency places the overnight anchorage near Ong Cam in Lan Ha. Platform titles say "Ha Long & Lan Ha Bay" because of the boarding point, not because the ship stops at Ha Long's caves.
A day aboard
The operator publishes check-in from 12:00 and check-out at 12:00 on the last day for the two- and three-day cruises. The rest follows the usual Lan Ha pattern: the shuttle leaves Hanoi in the morning, lunch is served while the ship sails to Lan Ha, the afternoon has one main activity, then sunset, dinner and squid fishing. Day 2 is effectively half a morning: a short excursion, brunch and back to Tuan Chau. Before you book, check that recent reviews name the same product you are buying (La Pandora or Boutique), and that they mention the activity you care about, since kayaking rules changed in late 2024.
How to book and cancel
Direct. A deposit is due at booking and the balance at least three days before departure. Cancellation fees are "detailed in your specific tour itinerary", no-shows pay 100%, and refunds go back to the original payment method within 7–14 business days. Weather or government-ordered cancellations are refunded or rescheduled minus services already used. Expect holiday surcharges at Christmas, New Year and Tết (the Lunar New Year), corkage on outside drinks, and no discount if you skip the shuttle.
Children. Under 4 free when sharing with parents (one per cabin; a second child under 4 pays 50%), ages 4–8 pay 75%, and from 9 the full adult fare. That is stricter than many Lan Ha ships.
