What this site is
lanhabay.cruises helps travelers plan a trip to Lan Ha Bay, the limestone bay east of Cat Ba Island in Hai Phong, south of Ha Long Bay. We compare overnight and day cruises, explain how to reach the piers, list the official fees, and say plainly what can go wrong: storm cancellations, the kayak suspension, holiday crowds and listings that hide the real name of the ship.
The site is independent. It is not the official site of any cruise line, tour operator, port, the Cat Hai Special Zone (đặc khu Cát Hải), Hai Phong City or Cat Ba National Park, and none of them has approved or paid for our content. When we mention an operator's own website, we link to it so you can check its terms directly.
How we work
Every guide and review is built from facts we can check:
- Operator websites for ships, cabins, itineraries, inclusions, child policies and cancellation terms.
- Authorities in Hai Phong and Quang Ninh, including Cat Ba National Park's official fee board, for fees, routes and rules.
- Vietnamese press, such as VnExpress and the Hai Phong city newspaper, for rule changes, ferry disruptions, storm bans and incidents.
When sources disagree, we say so and tell you what to check, rather than picking the figure that reads best. When something cannot be confirmed, such as a ship's launch year or a rename, we leave it out or say it is unconfirmed.
Prices are read from GetYourGuide, Klook and Trip.com and dated on each page. They are "from" prices and change daily, so always confirm the price, cabin type and inclusions on the booking page before you pay.
Editorial independence
We do not accept payment for reviews, and no operator can buy a higher score or a better position. The editorial scores on review pages are our own judgement, based on the route, cabins, value, transparency and booking terms; they are not an average of customer ratings. When a ship has been renamed, has stopped sailing or sails mostly in Ha Long rather than Lan Ha, we say so and suggest alternatives, even when that means sending you to a product that earns us nothing.
How the site is paid for
