Privacy policy

We collect as little as possible: no accounts, no analytics, no newsletter. The server keeps standard access logs, and GetYourGuide's booking widget may set its own cookies unless you switch it to load only on click.

Who we are

This privacy policy covers lanhabay.cruises, an independent travel guide to Lan Ha Bay. You can contact us about privacy at hey@lanhabay.cruises. We do not publish a postal address or phone number.

What we do not collect

The site has no user accounts, no login, no comment forms, no newsletter and no analytics or advertising trackers. We do not build visitor profiles and we do not sell or rent personal data. Fonts are hosted on our own server, so loading a page does not send your address to a font service.

Server access logs

Like almost every website, our server keeps standard access logs. A log entry normally contains your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and your browser's user-agent string. We use these logs only to keep the site running and secure: to fix errors, spot abuse and handle technical problems. They are kept only as long as needed for those purposes and are not used to identify or profile visitors.

GetYourGuide booking widget

Many pages show a live availability calendar from GetYourGuide, our main affiliate partner. This is the only third-party code on the site. When the widget loads, your browser connects to GetYourGuide, which receives technical data such as your IP address and may set its own cookies, under GetYourGuide's privacy policy.

By default the widget loads automatically. You can choose "Only on click" in the calendar settings; the widget will then load only when you ask for it. Your choice is stored in your browser's localStorage under the key lh-cc. It never leaves your device, and you can delete it at any time by clearing the site's data in your browser. When you click a link to GetYourGuide, Klook or Trip.com, you leave our site. The platform can see that you came from us so that a booking can be credited to us. From that moment the platform's own privacy policy applies to everything you do there, including any booking and payment. We do not receive your name, contact details or payment details from these platforms.

Maps

Our maps are drawn from OpenStreetMap data (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL).

Email

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to answer you and to correct our pages, and we do not add you to any list. Please do not send passport numbers, booking passwords or payment details.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to its use. Because we hold so little, a request will usually concern server logs or an email you sent. Write to hey@lanhabay.cruises. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

Changes

If we change how the site handles data, for example by adding a new third-party service, we will update this page and its effective date. See also our terms of use and disclaimer.
