Adela Boutique Cruise review: now V'Spirit Classic

Adela Boutique Cruise no longer exists under that name: since 1 February 2023 the same 18-cabin, traditional-style ship sails Lan Ha Bay as V'Spirit Classic, checking in at Tuan Chau. Before that it was Perla Dawn Sails. Reviews under all three names describe one boat.

Adela Boutique Cruise Halong Bay is an old name for a ship that still sails: the operator announced that its business name would change from Adela Boutique Cruise to V'Spirit Cruise from 1 February 2023, and the ship is now sold as V'Spirit Classic. Our verdict: a small, traditional-style Lan Ha boat with balcony cabins and bathtubs, worth booking if you like wooden junks, but with excluded taxes and no platform listing under either name, so read the quote carefully.

What happened to Adela Boutique Cruise

The ship has had three names:

  1. Perla Dawn Sails (from July 2018): a traditional-style overnight Lan Ha ship in the LaFairy Sails family, with Junior, Senior and Grand suites, all with balcony. It was never a day catamaran.
  2. Adela Boutique Cruise: the same ship, managed by OneVivu Travel Service, with "The Dawn Restaurant" kept from the old name.
  3. V'Spirit Cruise from 1 February 2023, announced on the Adela site; today it sails as V'Spirit Classic with the same cabin types and the same restaurant name.

The old Perla Dawn website is now spam, and the old Adela address redirects to an unfinished template with no products. The live site is https://vspiritcruises.com/ (plural). A similarly named site in the singular belongs to a different day-cruise company: do not book through it thinking it is this ship.

Adela / V'Spirit Classic ship and cabins

The operator lists 18 cabins: 10 Junior Suites of 26 m², 6 Senior Suites of 28 m² and 2 Executive Suites of 48 m², plus triple (29 m²) and connecting (55 m²) arrangements. Every cabin has a balcony, an ocean-view bathtub and a shower. The boat is a traditional wooden-style junk.

V'Spirit says it runs "two newly built wooden junks"; whether that includes a second ship besides the former Adela is not stated. Wooden hulls are legal, but after a fatal collision in Lan Ha in June 2026 that sank a wooden boat, Cat Hai Special Zone (the local administration) now requires life jackets for all passengers throughout every trip and is inspecting wooden tenders closely (https://tienphong.vn/tang-cuong-kiem-tra-tau-cho-khach-du-lich-tren-vinh-lan-ha-post1851944.tpo). No cruise brand was named in that incident.

Route: Lan Ha Bay from Tuan Chau

Perla Dawn originally boarded on the Hai Phong side; agencies say the ship moved to Tuan Chau in June 2022. Today guests check in at the V'Spirit lounge at Tuan Chau International Harbor, take a tender to the ship and lunch while cruising from Ha Long into Lan Ha. The afternoon is the Bright Cave (hang Sáng) by bamboo boat rowed by locals; Day 2 is Tra Bau. All named stops are Lan Ha. For the check-in at Tuan Chau, see Lan Ha piers.

Adela Boutique Cruise price and booking

V'Spirit publishes no fares. One agency still sells the ship as "Adela" with a headline from $145 per person, room rates from $360 (Senior Suite) and $420 (Executive) including taxes, a Hanoi shuttle of $30–35 per person return and a peak-season surcharge of $40 per person. The same agency gives free cancellation more than 30 days out, 10% at 30–7 days, 50% at 6–3 days and 100% inside 3 days; children under 5 free (one per cabin) and up to 11 at 75%. These are agency terms: confirm them on your booking.

The ship is not sold on GetYourGuide or Klook under either name. For a similar small-boat Lan Ha cruise you can book with platform cancellation terms, the closest match is Venezia: two small boats (10 and 5 cabins) starting from Ben Beo on Cat Ba, with no Ha Long detour.

What travelers say about Adela

Reviews exist under Perla Dawn (from 2018), Adela Boutique and V'Spirit, and they describe one ship. When you read them, check the date and whether the review mentions The Dawn Restaurant or the 18-cabin layout. Reviews from before mid-2022 describe a different boarding pier.

How to book and cancel

Book direct with V'Spirit or through an agency. Ask for the total with taxes and the shuttle, the cancellation table in writing, and the ship's name on the voucher ("V'Spirit Classic"). Have your passport details ready 24 hours before sailing. Storm cancellations come from the port authority, not the cruise line. Step by step in how to book.

Alternatives to Adela / V'Spirit

  • Venezia: small boats from Cat Ba, Lan Ha only, on GetYourGuide.
  • Rosy: 22 balcony suites on a steel ship, Dark and Bright Caves.
