Le Théâtre Cruise Halong Bay review: is it still running, and what to book instead

Le Théâtre is a wooden-style overnight cruise on a pure Lan Ha route (Ao Ech and Tra Bau), but its operator is unnamed, no prices are published and the only booking button leads to Viator. Book it only after the seller confirms the ship in writing, or pick a ship you can verify.

Le Théâtre Cruise is marketed as a Halong Bay cruise, but the itinerary on its website is pure Lan Ha: an afternoon at Ao Ech (Frog Lagoon) and a morning at Tra Bau, with no Ha Long cave. Our verdict: the route is good, but too little about this ship can be confirmed to recommend booking it blind. If you want it, ask the seller to name the operator, the pier and the ship on your voucher; otherwise choose a comparable Lan Ha ship below.

Is Le Théâtre Cruise still running?

We cannot confirm it either way. A website for Le Théâtre ("Wonder on Lan Ha Bay") is online, with a Hanoi office on Tran Khanh Du street, a published itinerary and cabin list. But its only "Book Now" button sends you to a Viator page carrying affiliate tracking, which means the site does not prove the operator runs it. HalongBayTours.com lists Le Théâtre on its Lan Ha page with "check price" instead of a fare, and a 9.7 score from only 5 reviews.

So the ship probably exists and sells through agencies, but who runs it, when it was built and how many cabins it has are not published. That is unusual for a Lan Ha ship: most brands we review publish at least a cabin count and a direct price.

The ship and cabins

The site lists six cabin types, with wooden-style interiors and a sundeck on the third floor:

Cabin Size
Junior Suite 25 m²
Executive Suite 30 m²
Le Théâtre Suite 35 m²
Panorama Suite 40 m²
Family Suite 40 m²
Junior Connecting 50 m²

No bathtub and no pool are mentioned, and the total cabin count is not given. Before booking, ask for the cabin count, hull material (steel or wood) and the year the ship was built. Both 2026 boat incidents in the region involved wooden-hulled boats, and these are fair questions for any ship.

The route: Lan Ha, but which pier?

The homepage gives the pier as Tuan Chau, 19B International Harbour. The 2D1N itinerary on the same site says guests transfer to the ship by speedboat from Gia Luan harbour on north Cat Ba at 12:00, and disembark at Tuan Chau at 11:00 on day 2. Both can be true (a road transfer to Gia Luan, then a speedboat), but the site does not explain it. Your voucher must say where to go; see our piers guide.

Once aboard, everything is in Lan Ha: an afternoon at Ao Ech (Frog Lagoon) with kayak and swim, an overnight at anchor, and a morning at Tra Bau. There is no cave on the 2D1N.

Le Théâtre 2D1N, as published on its website
  1. Hanoi pickuptransfer not included in the price

  2. Speedboat from Gia Luan to the shipwelcome in "The Opera" restaurant, buffet lunch

  3. Ao Ech (Frog Lagoon): kayak and swimkayak only where allowed

  4. Spring-roll cooking demo

  5. Seafood set dinnersquid fishing, spa or a movie after

  6. Day 2: tai chi

  7. Kayak at Tra Bauuntil 08:00

  8. Check-out and brunch

  9. Disembark at Tuan Chau

Price and what is included

No price is published. The site lists as included: sightseeing fees, guide, kayak and local rowing boat, four meals, fruit and wine, two bottles of water per cabin per day, and insurance. Excluded: Hanoi transfers, spa, drinks, and surcharges at Christmas, New Year and Tết (the Lunar New Year). You must send full name, date of birth, nationality, gender, passport number and visa expiry in advance, and bring your passport to check-in.

Le Théâtre is not sold under its own name on GetYourGuide or Klook. If you see a generic "5-star" or "6-star" listing that seems to match, check the ship name in the listing before paying: generic titles often hide which ship you get.

How to book safely

  1. Ask the seller (Viator or an agency) for the operator's company name and the ship name on the voucher.
  2. Ask which pier you report to, and at what time: Tuan Chau 19B or Gia Luan.
  3. Get the cancellation terms in writing, including what happens if the authorities cancel sailings for weather.
  4. Pay by a method with buyer protection.

Our how to book a Lan Ha cruise guide has the full checklist, and GetYourGuide vs Klook explains the platforms' cancellation rules.

Is Le Théâtre Cruise in Halong Bay or Lan Ha Bay?

Its published 2D1N is entirely in Lan Ha: Ao Ech (Frog Lagoon) on day 1 and Tra Bau on day 2. Guests disembark at Tuan Chau in Ha Long.

Where does Le Théâtre Cruise depart from?

The website gives Tuan Chau 19B, but its own itinerary has guests boarding by speedboat from Gia Luan on Cat Ba. Ask the seller to confirm the pier and time in writing.

How much does Le Théâtre Cruise cost?

No price is published. The website books only through Viator, so the price is the one shown on that listing on your date.

Is Le Théâtre Cruise on GetYourGuide or Klook?

Not under its own name. Comparable Lan Ha ships on those platforms include Orchid Trendy, Venezia and Elite of the Seas.
